The Prachanda-led government of Nepal has come under fire for discussing Constitution amendment with India instead of engaging stakeholders in Nepal. At Sunday’s meeting of the Parliament, the main opposition CPN-UML criticised the government for talking about the Charter amendment with India. UML lawmakers criticised the government for handing over a letter to India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a promise to amend Nepal’s Charter. Bimalendra Nidhi, Nepal’s Deputy Prime Minister and PM Prachanda’s special emissary, recently handed over a letter from Prachanda to India’s PM Modi. In the letter, Prachanda has pledged to make the Charter ‘acceptable to all’.
