Posted by Anup Baral September 7th, 2016 : Civil servants are marking the 13th Public Service Day on Wednesday by organising different programmes. The day is a holiday for civil servants. ‘Service-friendly administration, good governance in federalism’ is the slogan for this year’s celebrations. On this day 60 years ago (Bhadra 22, 2066 BS), then prime minister Tanka Prasad Acharya introduced Public Service Act and this day marks that historic occasion. Public servants have been celebrating this occasion for the last 11 years formally. Currently, Nepal has around 83,000 civ9l servants. Coinciding with the day, the Ministry of General Administration is giving away best public service award to 10 employees and public service award to 30 employees. The government is giving away this year’s outstanding public service award to Finance Secretary Shanta Raj Subedi. The award carries a purse of two lakh rupees. Ten other government employees will get best public service award (with a purse of one lakh rupees each), whereas 30 civil servants will get public service award, which carries a purse of Rs 50,000 each.onlinekhabar
